Jeffrey's First Day of Kindergarten at Berthoud Elementary
I think Jeffrey had an okay first day of school. When I went to pick him up, all the other kids filed out, and he was last. He was crying because he had to leave his school supplies at school. I explained to him that they were "school" supplies so they had to stay at school, but promised him that we would get some special glue and things for "home" supplies. We do already have craft stuff, but I think he was particularly excited about the elmer's glue and 8 glue sticks that we brought. He was also a little disturbed that they didn't eat together, because they did that at his preschool. This kindergarten is only 3 hours long, from 8:50-11:50, and even shorter on Wednesdays.
I have arranged to have a meeting with his teacher, Mrs. Spratt, to suggest some strategies for communicating with Jeffrey.
