For the past couple of years, Arabelle has staunchly refused to wield a pencil or crayon of any kind. I was impatient for her to start drawing already because I knew she could draw all kinds of amazing things if she would only put her mind to it.
It was worth the wait :) (but so funny to compare it to Jeffrey's neat and precise little men that were the first things that he drew, at roughly the same age).

Arabelle also tends to mutilate her art after she completes it. Sadly I did not get a picture of this before the big "X", but at least I got a picture before she cut it up. This is a "pig girl with an ant body". Strangely, I can see it. |

A girl with a necklace and a beautiful dress. |

Jeffrey told Arabelle that this one looked like a vampire, and she got very upset. Evidently it was supposed to be a self-portrait. |

When she finally agreed to put pen to paper, it has been amazing to see what has come out. I knew she had memorized how to spell her name aloud, but I didn't realize that she actually knew how to form all the letters of her name (and the alphabet). |

Arabelle: The "R" and the "B" are thinking and thinking and thinking. Me: Why is that? Arabelle: Because their heads are so big. | |

I really like the pig girl with an ant body, and also what Arabelle said about the R and the B. That's really impressive that she knows how to write the alphabet. Clever girl.
