Museum of Science and Discovery

The Children's Museum of Science and Discovery in Fort Collins has recently undergone a complete renovation/upgrade.  It is now on par with the quality of the Children's Museum in Fort Collins, but more geared toward Science/Technology.  For Spring break they had "Geek Week" with a different theme each day like super heroes, robots, and rockets.  I'm sure Jeffrey would have loved to have gone every day.  We went on rocket day.  The rocket they had available to be made was way above Jeffrey's age level, but they did have these Star Wars guys.

Arabelle was scared of them.

You design a run with the pipes and then have the balls go down them.

Tornado Simulator.  Arabelle was also scared of this.

Arabelle was a true natural at the drums.  I think that surprises about no one. She figured out the bass pedal on her own and her rhythm was strangely good.

They had a sound proof room with all kinds of instruments to play on.

During the entire trip Charlotte was mostly concerned with my bag and wanting me to wear it constantly.

One of the coolest things we did was see a "Dome Show".  It was a space-themed movie in a planetarium type theater.  It was really cool watching the space ships,  etc fly over you on the ceiling.  Sadly Arabelle and Charlotte only lasted about 15 minutes, I'm sure Jeffrey would have stayed for hours.  Jeffrey calls this museum the "robot museum" and has asked to go back just about every day.  In fact, as we were leaving the museum, he said, "I want to come here EVERY day!"  When the VanYperens come to visit, this will be first on our list of activities.

  1. I'm surprised EVERYONE wasn't scared of the Star Wars guys. I bet the Vanyperens will love this.

  2. Oh wow! Nicholas just freaked out when he saw Jeffrey with the Star Wars guys. He is a bit obsessed. Too bad it doesn't sound like they will still be there. But it looks like an awesome place that my kids will love either way. I can see why Jeffrey wants to go there every day. :) That is funny that Arabelle was scared of the guys. She doesn't strike me as the scared type. :)
